Abstract
The present invention discloses a matrix comprising a modified polysaccharide consisting of repeating disaccharide units whereby in at least 11% of the disaccharide units one primary alcohol group is oxidized into a carboxylic acid group.

- a gel formulation, comprising a modified polysaccharide comprising repeating disaccharide units, at least 11% of the disaccharide units comprising carboxylic acids.
A composition, comprising:
- a matrix comprising a modified polysaccharide comprising repeating disaccharide units, wherein at least 11% of the disaccharide units comprise carboxylic acids,
- wherein the matrix has a shear modulus G′ between 10 Pa and 107 Pa.
