Abstract
A vacuum tool that is removably couplable to a hose or wand of a vacuum.
Claims20
A vacuum tool for removably coupling to a hose or wand of a vacuum, the vacuum tool comprising:
- a body including
- a first end,
- a second end opposite the first end, and
- at least one wall extending between the first end and the second end, the at least one wall forming a work surface suction opening and a cavity in fluid communication with the work surface suction opening;
- a funnel extending from the first end, the funnel including
- a proximal skirt portion coupled to the first end of the body, the proximal skirt portion having an aperture defined therein, the aperture in fluid communication with the cavity of the body, and
- a distal skirt portion integrally formed with the proximal skirt portion, the distal skirt portion extending from the proximal skirt portion in a direction away from the first end of the body;
- a gasket coupled to the body and positioned along a perimeter of the work surface suction opening;
- and
- a connection portion coupled to the second end of the body, the connection portion including a conduit defined therein, the conduit being in fluid communication with the cavity of the body, the conduit including an outlet configured to be placed in fluid communication with the hose or wand of the vacuum.

A vacuum tool for removably coupling to a hose or wand of a vacuum, the vacuum tool comprising:
- a connection portion including
- a first cylindrical wall,
- a conduit defined by the first cylindrical wall, the conduit including an outlet configured to be placed in fluid communication with the hose or wand of the vacuum,
- a second cylindrical wall surrounding a majority of the first cylindrical wall, and
- an annular channel formed between the first cylindrical wall and the second cylindrical wall, the annular channel configured to receive an end of the hose or wand of the vacuum;
- a body integrally formed together with the connection portion as a single part, the body including
- a plurality of walls forming a work surface suction opening and a cavity, each of the work surface suction opening and the cavity in fluid communication with the outlet of the connection portion, the plurality of walls including a flat wall section interrupted by a curved wall section to match a curvature of at least part of the connection portion;
- a gasket coupled to the body and positioned along a perimeter of the work surface suction opening;
- and
- a funnel coupled to the body, the funnel including
- a proximal skirt portion coupled to the body and extending into the cavity, the proximal skirt portion having an aperture defined therein, the aperture in fluid communication with the cavity of the body, and
- a distal skirt portion integrally formed with the proximal skirt portion, the distal skirt portion including a plurality of walls, a shortest wall of the plurality of walls extending from the proximal skirt portion in a direction away from the cavity and toward a plane that is coplanar with the work surface suction opening.
9 more elements
A method of operating a vacuum tool, the method comprising:
- inserting an end of a hose or wand of a vacuum into an annular channel formed between a first cylindrical wall and a second cylindrical wall of a connection portion of the vacuum tool;
- activating the vacuum, thereby creating suction through a work surface suction opening defined in a body of the vacuum tool;
- pressing the vacuum tool against a work surface, thereby at least partially compressing a gasket and creating suction against the work surface via the work surface suction opening;
- creating debris at a location along the work surface that is above a funnel of the vacuum tool;
- catching at least some of the debris in the funnel;
- and
- suctioning the debris through an aperture defined in the funnel, into a cavity of the vacuum tool, and through the connection portion of the vacuum tool toward the vacuum.
