A method for treating an inflammatory condition or infection in a subject in need thereof comprising transplanting an effective amount of a population of ex vivo expanded granulocyte/macrophage progenitor cells (GMPs) to the subject, wherein the population of GMPs has uniform morphology of round-shaped and non-adherent.
