A composition of glycosylated target proteins produced by a method of making the glycosylated target protein comprising (i) culturing a Leishmania host cell and (ii) purifying the target protein from the culture, wherein the Leishmania host cell comprises:
- a. a recombinant nucleic acid encoding the target protein;
- and
- b. a recombinant nucleic acid encoding a heterologous glycosyltransferase.
