Multilayer film for packaging and method of manufacture thereof

A multilayer film for packaging comprising:

• a first layer of ink and a second layer of ink,
• wherein the first layer and the second layer of ink comprise functionalised graphene and cellulose dispersed in a solvent,
• wherein the solvent includes a binder,
• wherein the binder includes an organic compound compatible with the solvent and with a functional group of the functionalised graphene to enable interaction therebetween;
• a first layer of substrate and a second layer of substrate
• wherein the first layer and the second layer of substrate include functional groups that interact with the functional group of the functionalised graphene;
• wherein the first layer of ink is deposited on the first layer of substrate and wherein the second layer of ink is deposited on the second layer of substrate such that a nano-fibrous layer of functionalised graphene interspersed with cellulose is formed on the first layer of substrate;
• and
• wherein the first layer of ink and the second layer of ink are sandwiched between the first layer of substrate and the second layer of substrate, the first layer of ink between the first layer of substrate and the second layer of ink, and the second layer of ink between the second layer of substrate and the first layer of ink.
