Abstract
Membranes are provided to be specially developed for use in chambers for artificial circulatory assistance which may be employed primarily in cardiovascular procedures, notably to produce arterial capacitance, to regulate blood pressure, to produce aortic counterpulsation and to pump blood. The membrane may have circular sections that may vary in size or not depending on the function to be performed and are interconnected so that the transition between one section and the other is smooth, regardless of the size of each section. Further, chambers and pumps may be used for cardiopulmonary bypass and a pumping system.
Claims7
A pumping membrane for artificial circulatory assistance, the pumping membrane comprising:
- a circular base provided with a securing tab;
- an upper end provided with an attachment tab;
- and
- a cylindrical section arranged between the circular base and the upper end of the pumping membrane,
- wherein the cylindrical section of the pumping membrane is formed of recesses and edges alternating from its upper end to its opposite end,
- wherein the cylindrical section adopts the shape of a cross or star with at least 3 points when the pumping membrane is in a rest state, and
- wherein the cylindrical section of the pumping membrane adopts a circular shape when at a maximum volume capacity.
