Unbacked and Modifiable Tapes and Skin Dressings

A method of constructing a dressing over a wound penetrating a surface of a skin, comprising:

• selecting a wound dressing component made by a manufacturing process, suitable for covering the wound and suitable for adhering to the skin around the wound, comprising an unbacked, layered adhesive drape construction (a) defining first and second surfaces, the second surface facing oppositely to the first surface, (b) defining a perimeter having at least one outer edge, (c) being formed of at least a first adhesive, the first adhesive derived from a first adhesive formula, and (d) (i) having one biocompatible adhesive layer, at least one of at least partially (1) dried as a solid coating or a pattern coating and/or (2) cured as a solid coating or a pattern coating, being formed of one biocompatible adhesive, the one biocompatible adhesive being the first adhesive, constructed during the manufacturing process before packaging, constructed without a backing and constructed as a solid coating or a pattern coating, wherein at least a portion of the one biocompatible adhesive layer has a thickness of the one biocompatible adhesive layer and wherein at least a portion of at least the first surface is capable of adhering to the skin during functional use of the drape construction, or (ii) having at least two adhesive layers, each adhesive layer being at least one of at least partially (1) dried as a solid coating or a pattern coating and/or (2) cured as a solid coating or a pattern coating, the at least two adhesive layers being assembled into a final layered construction during the manufacturing process before packaging, wherein at least a portion of the final layered construction has a thickness that includes at least the at least two adhesive layers, wherein the final layered construction is constructed without a backing and is constructed as a solid coating or a pattern coating and wherein at least a portion of at least the first surface is at least one biocompatible adhesive capable of adhering to the skin during functional use of the drape construction, the at least one biocompatible adhesive being at least the first adhesive;
• removing at least one removable liner from covering at least a portion of at least the first surface of the drape construction;
• covering at least a portion of the wound with at least a portion of the drape construction;
• and
• placing at least a portion of the first surface of the drape construction onto the skin surrounding the wound to adhere the drape construction to the skin.

A method of adhering at least one object to at least one surface of at least one tissue, comprising:

• selecting a tape component made by a manufacturing process, suitable for adhering to the at least one surface of the at least one tissue and suitable to remove from the at least one surface of the at least one tissue by stretching the component, comprising an unbacked, layered adhesive tape construction (a) defining first and second surfaces, the second surface facing oppositely to the first surface, (b) defining a perimeter having at least one outer edge, (c) being formed of at least first and second adhesives, the second adhesive derived from a different adhesive formula than the first adhesive, and (d) (ii) having at least two adhesive layers, each adhesive layer being at least one of at least partially (1) dried as a solid coating or a pattern coating and/or (2) cured as a solid coating or a pattern coating, the at least two adhesive layers being assembled into a final layered construction during the manufacturing process before packaging, wherein at least a portion of the final layered construction has a thickness that includes at least the at least two adhesive layers, wherein the final layered construction is constructed without a backing and is constructed as a solid coating or a pattern coating and wherein at least a portion of at least the first surface is at least one biocompatible adhesive capable of adhering to the at least one surface of the at least one tissue during functional use of the tape construction, the at least one biocompatible adhesive being at least one of the first and/or second adhesives;
• placing at least a portion of the second surface of the tape construction onto at least a portion of the at least one object to adhere the tape construction to the at least one object;
• removing at least one removable liner from covering at least a portion of at least the first surface of the tape construction;
• placing at least a portion of the first surface of the tape construction onto the at least one surface of the at least one tissue to adhere the tape construction to the at least one surface of the at least one tissue;
• and
• removing the tape construction from the at least one surface of the at least one tissue by applying a force of removal by stretching the tape construction in a direction wherein the tape construction is lifted less than 90 degrees from the at least one surface of the at least one tissue.
