Abstract
A ceramic composite tubular structure includes a monolithic ceramic preform being tubular-shaped created using an additive manufacturing process. The monolithic ceramic preform includes a first end, a second end, an inner surface, and an outer surface. The monolithic ceramic preform includes one or more apertures formed between the inner surface and the outer surface where at least one of the one or more apertures is open to at least one of the first end or the second end. An inner face sheet is formed on the inner surface of the monolithic ceramic preform by a first quantity of ceramic matrix composite plies. An outer face sheet is formed on the outer surface of the monolithic ceramic preform by a second quantity of ceramic matrix composite plies.

A ceramic composite tubular structure, comprising:
- a monolithic ceramic preform being tubular-shaped created using an additive manufacturing process, the monolithic ceramic preform having a first end and a second end, the monolithic ceramic preform comprising an inner surface and an outer surface with one or more apertures formed between the inner surface and the outer surface, at least one of the one or more apertures open to at least one of the first end or the second end;
- an inner face sheet formed on the inner surface of the monolithic ceramic preform, the inner face sheet comprising a first quantity of ceramic matrix composite plies;
- and
- an outer face sheet formed on the outer surface of the monolithic ceramic preform, the outer face sheet comprising a second quantity of ceramic matrix composite plies.
A method of forming a ceramic composite tubular structure, comprising:
- forming a monolithic ceramic preform being tubular-shaped using an additive manufacturing process, the monolithic ceramic preform comprising a first end and a second end, the monolithic ceramic preform having an inner surface and an outer surface with one or more apertures formed between the inner surface and the outer surface, at least one of the one or more apertures open to at least one of the first end or the second end;
- applying an inner face sheet on the inner surface of the monolithic ceramic preform, the inner face sheet comprising a first quantity of ceramic matrix composite plies;
- and
- applying an outer face sheet on the outer surface of the monolithic ceramic preform, the outer face sheet comprising a second quantity of ceramic matrix composite plies.
A ceramic composite tubular structure, comprising:
- a monolithic ceramic preform created using an additive manufacturing process, the monolithic ceramic preform being tubular-shaped and having a first end and a second end and defining at least one of a converging portion or a diverging portion, the monolithic ceramic preform comprising an inner surface and an outer surface extending between the first end and the second end, the monolithic ceramic preform having one or more passages formed between the inner surface and the outer surface;
- an inner face sheet formed on the inner surface of the monolithic ceramic preform, the inner face sheet comprising a first quantity of ceramic matrix composite plies;
- and
- an outer face sheet formed on the outer surface of the monolithic ceramic preform, the outer face sheet comprising a second quantity of ceramic matrix composite plies.
