Abstract
An electric over hydraulic (EOH) braking system incorporates (1) a battery-powered backup breakaway unit internally with (2) an EOH brake actuator unit and (3) brake actuation control unit, in a single enclosed housing. The braking system also includes wireless communication devices for connecting with a smart device (e.g. smartphone, tablet, laptop) running an application software for controlling various operating functions and options of the braking system. The braking system also includes sensors, and monitoring of the braking system component conditions for maintenance and proper operation.

An electric over hydraulic (EOH) brake system for mounting to a trailer, the system comprising:
- a housing having an internal space:
- a brake actuator unit disposed and enclosed within the housing to be fluidly connected to the hydraulic brakes of a trailer,
- a brake actuation control unit disposed and enclosed within the housing, and
- a battery-powered backup breakaway unit disposed and enclosed within the housing.
