Autonomous vehicle communication gateway manager

A method comprising:

• determining that an engine of an autonomous vehicle is turned on at a first timestamp;
• in response to determining that the engine of the autonomous vehicle is turned on at the first timestamp:
• causing the autonomous vehicle to operate in an initiation state, wherein:
• during the initiation state, Autonomous Vehicle Communication Gateway (AVCG) configuration data is communicated to the autonomous vehicle;
• the AVCG configuration data comprises a set of instructions to control operations of the autonomous vehicle;
• determining that a particular time period has passed since the engine of the autonomous vehicle was turned on, the particular time period indicating a time when the initiation state ends;
• in response to determining that the particular time period has passed since the engine of the autonomous vehicle was turned on, causing the autonomous vehicle to operate in an active state;
• while in the active state, executing at least one of the set of instructions;
• determining that the engine of the autonomous vehicle is turned off at a second timestamp;
• in response to determining that the engine of the autonomous vehicle is turned off at the second timestamp, causing the autonomous vehicle to operate in a timed-active state, wherein the timed-active state is associated with a timeout parameter, such that when the timeout parameter is reached, the timed-active state ends;
• while in the timed-active state, communicating a message to an oversight server;
• determining that the timeout parameter is reached;
• in response to determining that the timeout parameter is reached, causing the autonomous vehicle to operate in a shutdown state;
• and
• while in the shutdown state, storing a result of executing the at least one of the set of instructions in a memory that is onboard the autonomous vehicle.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to:

• determine that an engine of an autonomous vehicle is turned on at a first timestamp;
• in response to determining that the engine of the autonomous vehicle is turned on at the first timestamp:
• cause the autonomous vehicle to operate in an initiation state, wherein:
• during the initiation state, Autonomous Vehicle Communication Gateway (AVCG) configuration data is communicated to the autonomous vehicle;
• the AVCG configuration data comprises a set of instructions to control operations of the autonomous vehicle;
• determine that a particular time period has passed since the engine of the autonomous vehicle was turned on, the particular time period indicating a time when the initiation state ends;
• in response to determining that the particular time period has passed since the engine of the autonomous vehicle was turned on, cause the autonomous vehicle to operate in an active state;
• while in the active state, execute at least one of the set of instructions;
• determine that the engine of the autonomous vehicle is turned off at a second timestamp;
• in response to determining that the engine of the autonomous vehicle is turned off at the second timestamp, cause the autonomous vehicle to operate in a timed-active state, wherein the timed-active state is associated with a timeout parameter, such that when the timeout parameter is reached, the timed-active state ends;
• while in the timed-active state, communicate a message to an oversight server;
• determine that the timeout parameter is reached;
• in response to determining that the timeout parameter is reached, cause the autonomous vehicle to operate in a shutdown state;
• and
• while in the shutdown state, store a result of executing the at least one of the set of instructions in a memory that is onboard the autonomous vehicle.
