Light Source Module with Integrated Ambient Light Sensing Capability

A device, comprising:

• a light source module, comprising:
• an aperture configured to emit and receive light;
• one or more light emitting components configured to emit light through the aperture;
• and
• one or more light sensor components configured to measure illuminance received through the aperture and emit a signal indicating a measurement of the received illuminance;
• and
• a controller configured to control, based at least in part on the measurement of the received illuminance, a display-based operation, or camera-based operation of the device.

A mobile computing device, comprising:

• a display component;
• a camera component;
• a light source module, comprising:
• an aperture;
• one or more light emitting components configured to emit light through the aperture;
• and
• one or more light sensing components configured to measure illuminance received through the aperture and emit a signal indicating a measurement of the illuminance;
• and
• a controller configured to control, based at least in part on the measurement of the illuminance, a display-based operation of the display component, or camera-based operation of the camera component.
