Abstract
Antenna assemblies are described herein. In particular, described herein are multi-focal-point antenna devices and compact radio frequency (RF) antenna devices. Any of these assemblies may include a primary feed that includes a single patterned emitting surface from which multiple different beams of RF signals are emitted corresponding to different antenna input feeds each communicating with the patterned antenna emitting surface. The antenna assembly is therefore capable of emitting beams in the same direction having different polarizations using a single primary feed.
Claims20
A method of operating a radio device having a single antenna in a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) operating mode, the method comprising:
- feeding a respective radio signal to each feed of the antenna;
- and
- radiating each radio signal by the antenna, wherein the antenna radiates each radio signal with a different polarization.
A method of operating a radio device having a single antenna in a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) operating mode, the method comprising:
- receiving, by the antenna, a plurality of radio signals, wherein the antenna receives each radio signal with a different polarization;
- and
- feeding each different polarization from the antenna to radio circuitry by a respective feed of a plurality of feeds of the antenna.
