Abstract
The disclosure relates to heart valve prostheses with the reduced need of pacemaker implantation and improved means for positioning the replacement heart valve.
Claims21
A heart valve prosthesis for implantation at a native valve site, the heart valve prosthesis comprising:
- a stent comprising a plurality of interconnected cells, the plurality of interconnected cells comprising a ring of cells disposed at an end of the heart valve prosthesis, the stent configured to transition from a non-expanded state to an expanded state at the native valve site;
- a plurality of locators extending from the stent, each locator of the plurality of locators having a tip at a free end of the locator, each locator configured to extend radially with respect to the stent to capture at least a portion of a respective native leaflet at the native valve site between such locator and the stent to sandwich the respective native leaflet between the locator and the stent in the expanded state;
- and
- a stent cover coupled to the stent and covering at least a portion of the stent, the stent cover comprising a prosthetic valve.
1 more element
A method for implantation of a heart valve prosthesis at a native valve site, the method comprising:
- advancing the heart valve prosthesis in a non-expanded state to the native valve site, the heart valve prosthesis comprising a stent comprising a plurality of interconnected cells, a plurality of locators extending from the stent, and a stent cover coupled to the stent and covering at least a portion of the stent, the stent cover comprising a prosthetic valve, the plurality of interconnected cells comprising a ring of cells disposed at an end of the heart valve prosthesis, each locator of the plurality of locators having a tip at a free end of the locator;
- and
- deploying the heart valve prosthesis such that each locator extends radially with respect to the stent to capture at least a portion of a respective native leaflet at the native valve site between such locator and the stent to sandwich the respective native leaflet between the locator and the stent in an expanded state.
