Abstract
A porous composite ceramic separator including a porous ceramic separator substrate including inorganic particles and a binder polymer, where the binder polymer binds and interconnects the inorganic particles; and a coating layer on at least one surface of the porous ceramic separator. The coating layer includes a mixture of binder polymer particles and staple fibers. The porous composite ceramic separator has high thermal safety by the use of the porous ceramic separator substrate, can prevent tensile strength decline, and shows good resistance characteristics and assembly characteristics into an electrochemical device.
Claims18
A porous composite ceramic separator, comprising:
- a porous ceramic separator substrate comprising inorganic particles and a binder polymer, wherein the binder polymer binds and interconnects the inorganic particles;
- and
- a coating layer on at least one surface of the porous ceramic separator substrate, wherein the coating laver comprises a mixture of binder polymer particles and staple fibers.
A method for manufacturing a porous composite ceramic separator, comprising:
- (S1) coating a first slurry comprising inorganic particles dispersed in a solvent and a binder polymer dissolved in the solvent on a support, drying and peeling off from the support to prepare a porous ceramic separator substrate;
- and
- (S2) coating an aqueous slurry comprising binder polymer particles and staple fibers on at least one surface of the porous ceramic separator substrate, and drying to form a coating layer.
