Instrument selection optimization

A system, comprising:

• a processor configured to:
• receive a specification of surgical implements available for use during a surgical operation;
• receive an image depicting at least a portion of the available surgical implements utilized during the surgical operation;
• at least in part automatically generate a record of the utilized surgical implements depicted in the image;
• store the record in a data storage of surgical implement utilization data;
• and
• automatically analyze records stored in the data storage of surgical implement utilization data to identify one or more surgical implement preparation groupings optimizing one or more specified utilization metrics;
• and
• a memory coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with instructions.

A computer program product embodied in a non-transitory computer readable medium and comprising computer instructions for:

• receiving a specification of surgical implements available for use during a surgical operation;
• receiving an image depicting at least a portion of the available surgical implements utilized during the surgical operation;
• at least in part automatically generating a record of the utilized surgical implements depicted in the image;
• storing the record in a data storage of surgical implement utilization data;
• and
• automatically analyzing records stored in the data storage of surgical implement utilization data to identify one or more surgical implement preparation groupings optimizing one or more specified utilization metrics.
