Abstract
In one embodiment, the disclosure provides a machine-implemented technique that improves the traditional methods of expense reimbursement processes by allowing an authorized delegate, e.g., administrative assistant, that is acting on behalf of another, e.g., account owner, to add expense items through a device on which the delegate is logged-in to, as opposed to a device on which the account owner is logged-in to, all without requiring the delegate to manage multiple user accounts and in an automated fashion.

A computer-implemented method executed using a computer system, the method comprising:
- receiving an instruction message from a computing device associated with a first user account, the instruction message specifying that a second user account is a delegate that is authorized to administer an expense record of the first user account on behalf of the first user account;
- receiving, from a first device executing an instance of a web application to which the second user account is logged-in to as a delegate of the first user account, a request message to upload an expense image and associating the expense image to an expense line of an expense record of the first user account, the request message requesting the expense image to be uploaded by a second device associated with the second user account;
- determining that the second user account is an authorized user account to act on behalf of the first user account;
- transmitting a notification message to the second device;
- receiving, from the second device executing an instance of a mobile application to which a second user account is logged-in, a return message comprising the expense image;
- processing the received expense image and updating the expense line of the expense record associated with the first user account based on the processed expense image received from the mobile application to which the second user account is logged-in to.

- one or more processors:
- one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media coupled to the one or more processors and storing one or more sequences of instructions, which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to execute:
- receiving an instruction message from a computing device associated with a first user account, the instruction message specifying that a second user account is a delegate that is authorized to administer an expense record of the first user account on behalf of the first user account;
- receiving, from a first device executing an instance of a web application to which the second user account is logged-in to as a delegate of the first user account, a request message to upload an expense image and associating the expense image to an expense line of an expense record of the first user account, the request message requesting the expense image to be uploaded by a second device associated with the second user account;
- determining that the second user account is an authorized user account to act on behalf of the first user account;
- transmitting a notification message to the second device;
- receiving, from the second device executing an instance of a mobile application to which a second user account is logged-in, a return message comprising the expense image;
- processing the received expense image and updating the expense line of the expense record associated with the first user account based on the processed expense image received from the mobile application to which the second user account is logged-in to.
