Software filtered memory devices in computing systems

A method of implementing software filtered non-volatile memory in a computing device that provides a guest access to a non-volatile memory associated with the computing device, the method comprising:

• detecting a configuration request by the guest to configure the non-volatile memory;
• in response to detecting the configuration request, creating a guest queue configured to contain a command received from the guest;
• creating a host queue configured to contain a filtered command based on the command contained in the guest queue;
• and
• configuring the non-volatile memory to receive the filtered command from the host queue.

A computing device that implements software filtered non-volatile memory and that provides a guest access to a non-volatile memory, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• the non-volatile memory operatively coupled to the processor, wherein the computing device contains instructions executable by the processor to cause the computing device to:
• detect a configuration request by the guest to configure the non-volatile memory;
• in response to detecting the configuration request, create a guest queue configured to contain a command received from the guest;
• create a host queue configured to contain a filtered command based on the command contained in the guest queue;
• and
• configure the non-volatile memory to receive the filtered command from the host queue.

Computer-readable storage media storing instructions executable by a processor to cause a computing device to:

• detect a configuration request by a guest to configure a non-volatile memory;
• in response to detecting the configuration request, create a guest queue configured to contain a command received from the guest;
• create a host queue configured to contain a filtered command based on the command contained in the guest queue;
• and
• configure the non-volatile memory to receive the filtered command from the host queue.
