Abstract
This invention relates generally to a thermal conductivity probe. In one embodiment, a thermal conductivity probe includes, but is not limited to, at least one heating element, at least one thermal insulator, and at least one thermistor thermally isolated from the at least one heating element by the at least one thermal insulator.

1-18. (canceled)
A thermal conductivity probe configured to behind a cone penetration device, the thermal conductivity probe comprising:
- at least one heating element;
- at least one thermistor;
- and
- at least one thermal insulation section, the at least one thermal insulation section being disposed between the at least one heating element and the at least one thermistor along a length of the thermal conductivity probe such that the at least one thermistor is thermally isolated from the at least one heating element.
1 more element
An attachment that couples to a cone penetration device (CPT), the attachment comprising:
- at least one heating element;
- at least one thermistor;
- at least one thermal insulation section, the at least one thermal insulation section being disposed between the at least one heating element and the at least one thermistor along a length of the attachment such that the at least one thermistor is thermally isolated from the at least one heating element;
- and
- a threaded member configured to removably couple to a CPT.

A thermal conductivity system, comprising:
- a probe including at least:
- at least one heating element;
- at least one thermistor;
- at least one thermal insulation section, the at least one thermal insulation section being disposed between the at least one heating element and the at least one thermistor along a length of the probe such that the at least one thermistor is thermally isolated from the at least one heating element;
- and
- at least one processor configured to perform operations including at least:
- control the at least one heating element;
- and
- measure temperature using the at least one thermistor over time.
