Abstract

New devices, systems and methods are provided for protecting personnel and/or equipment from projectile(s) and/or weapons. In some embodiments, one or more actuator(s) mounted on a handheld combat device project shielding materials, such as particles and surfaces, to intercept one or more such projectile(s) or weapon(s). In some embodiments, such actuator(s) include electromagnets or a propellant, for driving the interception particles and surfaces away from the protected personnel and/or equipment. In some aspects of the invention, a control system using sensors with one or more sampling points are included, and determine the location and probable trajectory(ies) of an incoming projectile, and deploy the interception particles and surfaces to intercept the incoming projectile or other weapon.

Dependent claims

A shielding system mounted on a handheld combat device for blocking projectile(s) and/or weapon(s), comprising:

interception material(s) and/or surface(s) located on or about said handheld combat device;
at least one actuator(s), configured to move at least part of said interception material(s) and/or surface(s);
at least one sensor(s), configured to sense a threat caused by said projectile(s) and/or weapon(s);
a control system, communicatively connected with said at least one sensor and said at least one actuator;
wherein said control system and said at least one actuator(s) are configured to move said at least part of said interception material(s) and/or surface(s) in at least one direction(s) to intercept said projectile(s) and/or weapon(s), based on said at least one sensor sensing a threat of an impact from said projectile(s) and/or weapon(s).
