Abstract
Disclosed herein are a number of embodiments of modular shower base kits comprised of various configurable and compatible components. Examples of such configurable and compatible components include shower bases and shower perimeter components. The shower perimeter components are arranged to attach to edges of a shower base and subsequently secure the shower base to various shower enclosures such as panels, walls, doors, etc. In one example, each shower base includes an integrated threshold along one edge of the shower base. In another example, a shower base kit includes multiple independent thresholds that are arranged to be selectively attached to the shower base. Such attachment is facilitated by a threshold brackets and threshold gaskets.
Claims24
A modular shower base system for assembling a base for a shower, the system comprising:
- one or more base components configurable to accommodate the size, shape, and drain location of the shower, each base component includes:
- a first edge;
- a second edge, perpendicular to the first edge;
- a third edge, opposite the first edge and perpendicular to the second edge;
- a fourth edge opposite the second edge and perpendicular to the first edge and third edge;
- and
- a drain aperture;
- a plurality of perimeter components configurable to accommodate the size and shape of the shower and further configurable to attach one of the edges of the base to a shower enclosure;
- and
- a plurality of threshold components configurable to form a threshold along one or more of the edges of the base.
A method of preparing, assembling, and installing components of a modular shower base, the method comprising:
- selecting a location for a shower;
- selecting one of a plurality of shower base components;
- selecting one or more perimeter components;
- selecting one or more threshold components;
- trimming the selected shower base component to appropriate dimensions to accommodate the space selected for a shower,
- trimming the selected one or more perimeter components to appropriate dimensions to accommodate securing the perimeter components to the shower base;
- and
- trimming the selected threshold components to appropriate dimensions to accommodate securing the threshold components to the shower base.
