Abstract
In one aspect there is provided a planting unit for singulating a plurality of seeds, said planting unit comprising a seed holder, a seed discharge, at least one drive unit and a seed singulator. The seed singulator further comprises an open top, a stepped bowl configuration having a lower inner circular wall and an upper outer circular wall, and a seed singulating ledge having a seed receiving area and a seed singulation area. The seed singulating ledge is positioned between the lower inner circular wall and an upper outer circular wall, and is driven by the drive unit to rotate relative to the upper outer circular wall along a first direction to move one or more of the plurality of seeds from the seed receiving area to the seed singulation area.

A planting unit for singulating a plurality of seeds, said planting unit comprising:
- a seed holder;
- a seed discharge;
- at least one drive unit;
- a seed singulator;
- wherein the seed singulator further comprises:
- an open top;
- a stepped bowl configuration having a lower inner circular wall and an upper outer circular wall;
- a seed singulating ledge having a seed receiving area and a seed singulation area;
- wherein the seed singulating ledge is positioned between said lower inner circular wall and an upper outer circular wall;
- and
- wherein the seed singulating ledge is driven by the at least one drive unit to rotate relative to the upper outer circular wall along a first direction to move one or more of said plurality of seeds between the seed receiving area and seed singulation area.
