A backing layer comprising
- a first layer, which is a paper layer,
- a second layer, which is a barrier coating layer, applied on one or both sides of the first layer, characterized in that the barrier coating layer comprises
- 30 to 70% by weight of an inorganic filler, and
- 70 to 30% by weight of a polymer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of −35 to +15° C.
