## Abstract

Disclosed are various embodiments for dynamic bandwidth allocations for cell site transport links on a radio-based network. In one embodiment, a predicted bandwidth usage at a cell site of a radio-based network is determined. A bandwidth allocation on a data link between the cell site and a data center is dynamically adjusted based at least in part on the predicted bandwidth usage.

## Claims

a radio-based network comprising a cell site serving a geographic area, the radio-based network further comprising a radio access network (RAN) and a core network, the core network being at least partly implemented in a cloud provider network;
a data link between the cell site and a local zone or a regional zone of the cloud provider network, the data link having a maximum bandwidth, the data link transporting network traffic between a core network function implemented in the local zone or the regional zone and at least one of: a distributed unit (DU) or a centralized unit (CU) at the cell site; and
at least one computing device configured to at least:
receive state information about the RAN from a RAN controller; and
dynamically adjust a bandwidth allocation for the radio-based network on the data link to be less than the maximum bandwidth based at least in part on the state information about the RAN.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one computing device is further configured to at least:
receive updated state information about the RAN from the RAN controller; and
dynamically increase the bandwidth allocation for the radio-based network on the data link based at least in part on the updated state information about the RAN.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the state information includes a number of devices connected to a radio unit (RU) at the cell site.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The system of claim 3, wherein the state information further includes respective signal strengths for the number of devices, the at least one computing device is further configured to at least determine a bandwidth estimate for the number of devices based at least in part on the respective signal strengths, and the bandwidth allocation is determined based at least in part on the bandwidth estimate.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one computing device is further configured to at least dynamically allocate a difference between the bandwidth allocation and the maximum bandwidth to another radio-based network.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the data link comprises a backup data link, and the at least one computing device is further configured to at least dynamically increase the bandwidth allocation to the backup data link based at least in part on a failure event with respect to a primary data link between the cell site and the cloud provider network.

### Claim 7

A computer-implemented method, comprising:
determining a predicted bandwidth usage at a cell site of a radio-based network based at least in part on radio access network (RAN) state information; and
dynamically adjusting a bandwidth allocation on a data link between the cell site and a data center based at least in part on the predicted bandwidth usage.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The computer-implemented method of claim 7, wherein the radio-based network is operated on behalf of a first customer, and the computer-implemented method further comprises dynamically allocating a remainder bandwidth on the data link to a second customer based at least in part on the bandwidth allocation.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein another radio-based network using the cell site is operated for the second customer.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The computer-implemented method of claim 7, further comprising dynamically adjusting a bandwidth allocation on a backup data link between the cell site and the data center in response to an adverse event affecting the data link.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The computer-implemented method of claim 7, wherein the RAN state information comprises a number of devices connected to the cell site, and determining the predicted bandwidth usage further comprises determining the predicted bandwidth usage at the cell site of the radio-based network based at least in part on the number of devices connected to the cell site.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The computer-implemented method of claim 11, further comprising determining relative signal strengths for individual devices of the number of devices, wherein the predicted bandwidth usage is determined based at least in part on the relative signal strengths.
