Abstract
Predicting future wireless coverage based on weather includes receiving, for each of a plurality of mobile devices communicating wirelessly with a server system via a wireless communication service, mobile device location information and mobile device communication service information; receiving weather data; correlating the weather data with the mobile device location information and the mobile device communication service information to characterize the effect of weather on the wireless communication service; and generating a dead zone volume map defining a predicted future weather-related dead zone volume for the wireless communication service.
Claims21
A wireless coverage mapping method comprising:
- receiving, for each of a plurality of mobile devices communicating wirelessly with a server system via a wireless communication service, mobile device location information and mobile device communication service information;
- receiving weather data;
- correlating the weather data with the mobile device location information and the mobile device communication service information to characterize the effect of weather on the wireless communication service;
- and
- generating a dead zone volume map defining a predicted future weather-related dead zone volume for the wireless communication service.
A wireless coverage mapping system comprising:
- at least one processor coupled to at least one memory containing instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the system to perform processes comprising:
- receiving, for each of a plurality of mobile devices communicating wirelessly with a server system via a wireless communication service, mobile device location information and mobile device communication service information;
- receiving weather data;
- correlating the weather data with the mobile device location information and the mobile device communication service information to characterize the effect of weather on the wireless communication service;
- and
- generating a dead zone volume map defining a predicted future weather-related dead zone volume for the wireless communication service.
A computer program product comprising at least one tangible, non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having embodied therein computer program instructions which, when executed by one or more processors of a system, cause the system to perform computer processes comprising:
- receiving, for each of a plurality of mobile devices communicating wirelessly with a server system via a wireless communication service, mobile device location information and mobile device communication service information;
- receiving weather data;
- correlating the weather data with the mobile device location information and the mobile device communication service information to characterize the effect of weather on the wireless communication service;
- and
- generating a dead zone volume map defining a predicted future weather-related dead zone volume for the wireless communication service.
