## Abstract

Systems, methods, and apparatus to monitor mobile Internet activity are disclosed. An example apparatus includes at least one memory, machine-readable instructions, programmable circuitry to execute the machine-readable instructions to at least assign a first port of a proxy server to a mobile device associated with a panelist, cause transmission of configuration data to the mobile device to instruct the mobile device to transmit future requests the first port of the proxy server, obtain a first request for media on the first port originating from the mobile device, and after a determination that the first request originated from an Internet Protocol (IP) address associated with an IP address range representative of devices on a cellular network, service the first request, generate a data association, request the media from an Internet media provider identified in the first request, and cause transmission of the media to the mobile device.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An audience measurement computing system comprising:
at least one processor;
memory having stored therein computer readable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the audience measurement computing system to perform a set of operations including:
assigning a first port of a proxy server to a mobile device based on registration information corresponding to a panelist, wherein the mobile device is associated with the panelist;
causing transmission of configuration data to the mobile device, wherein the configuration data includes instructions that cause the mobile device to address future requests originating from the mobile device to the first port;
receiving a first request for first media on the first port; and
based on making a determination that the first request was communicated to the first port via a cellular network:
associating the first request and a demographic attribute of the panelist based on an association between the panelist and the first port;
requesting the first media from an Internet media provider identified in the first request, wherein the Internet media provider is different from the proxy server; and
causing transmission of the first media to the mobile device.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The audience measurement computing system of claim 1, wherein the set of operations further include making the determination that the first request was communicated to the first port via the cellular network by:
obtaining an Internet Protocol address from which the first request was originated; and
determining that the Internet Protocol address from which the first request was originated is within an Internet Protocol address range.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The audience measurement computing system of claim 2, wherein the Internet Protocol address range is a defined range of Internet Protocol addresses associated with devices communicating on the cellular network.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The audience measurement computing system of claim 1, wherein the registration information includes the demographic attribute of the panelist.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The audience measurement computing system of claim 1, wherein the set of operations further include:
based on the registration information, storing, in association with the first port, a device identifier corresponding to the mobile device and an identifier corresponding to the panelist.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The audience measurement computing system of claim 1, wherein the set of operations further include:
determining an identifier of the first media; and
associating the identifier of the first media with the demographic attribute of the panelist.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The audience measurement computing system of claim 1, wherein the identifier of the first media is an advertisement identifier corresponding to an advertisement appearing on a webpage accessed by the mobile device.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The audience measurement computing system of claim 1, wherein the identifier of the first media is derived from at least a portion of the first media.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The audience measurement computing system of claim 1, wherein the set of operations further include:
storing media monitoring data indicative of the association between the first request and the demographic attribute of the panelist; and
estimating an exposure to the first media based at least in part on the media monitoring data.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The audience measurement computing system of claim 1, wherein assigning the first port of the proxy server to the mobile device includes uniquely assigning the first port of the proxy server solely to the mobile device.

### Claim 11

A method for obtaining media monitoring data from a proxy server, the method comprising:
assigning a first port of the proxy server to a mobile device based on registration information corresponding to a panelist, wherein the mobile device is associated with the panelist, and wherein the registration information includes at least a demographic attribute associated with the panelist;
causing transmission of configuration data to the mobile device, wherein the configuration data includes instructions that cause the mobile device to address future requests originating from the mobile device to the first port;
receiving a first request for first media on the first port; and
based on making a determination that the first request was communicated to the first port via a cellular network:
associating the first request and the demographic attribute of the panelist based on an association between the panelist and the first port;
storing media monitoring data indicative of the association between the first request and the demographic attribute of the panelist;
requesting the first media from an Internet media provider identified in the first request, wherein the Internet media provider is different from the proxy server; and
causing transmission of the first media to the mobile device.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein making the determination that the first request was communicated to the first port via the cellular network includes:
obtaining an Internet Protocol address from which the first request was originated; and
determining that the Internet Protocol address from which the first request was originated is within an Internet Protocol address range.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the Internet Protocol address range is a defined range of Internet Protocol addresses associated with devices communicating on the cellular network.

### Claim 14 (depends on 11)
