## Abstract

A portable information handling system is assembled and disassembled by a keystone assembly that couples at an upper surface of the portable housing to overlap a keyboard assembly that covers processing components disposed in the portable housing. A motherboard couples to the portable housing with a bi-stable plate having first and second portions selectively held in an engaged position and a released position by plural flexible members that flex between a first position stable one side of orthogonal to an inner portion relative to an outer portion and a second position stable on an opposite side of orthogonal. A member extending from the bi-stable plate moves relative to the motherboard to engage a notch that can be aligned with an axis of the sliding, orthogonal to the axis of the sliding or plural notches in both positions.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An information handling system comprising:
a housing having an interior;
a motherboard disposed in the interior;
a processor coupled to the motherboard and operable to execute instructions that process information;
a memory coupled to the motherboard and interfaced with the processor, the memory operable to store the instructions and information; and
a bi-stable plate having a first portion coupled to the housing and a second portion configured to selectively slide relative to the first portion to an engaged position and a released position relative to the motherboard.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The information handling system of claim 1 further comprising:
a member extending up from the second portion;
wherein the motherboard has a notch formed to align with the member, the member engaging the motherboard at the notch in the engaged position and releasing the motherboard at the notch in the released position.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The information handling system of claim 2 wherein the member and notch have alignment parallel with an axis of the slide of the second portion.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The information handling system of claim 2 wherein the member and the notch have alignment orthogonal with an axis of the slide of the second portion.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The information handling system of claim 2 further comprising:
a bi-stable member coupling the first and second portions and having a bias towards one of the engaged position and the released position at a time.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The information handling system of claim 5 further comprising four bi-stable members coupling the first portion and second portion.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The information handling system of claim 6 wherein the first portion is formed as a central rectangular shape coupled to the housing in an opening of the second portion, the second portion free to move relative to the housing, the motherboard free to remove from the bi-stable plate in the released position and coupled to the bi-stable plate in the engaged position.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The information handling system of claim 7 further comprising:
a cooling fan disposed in the housing adjacent the motherboard in the engaged position, the cooling fan blocking sliding to the released position.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The information handling system of claim 8 further comprising a housing cover coupled to the housing and having a member extending towards an interior of the housing and aligned to engage the cooling fan to retain the cooling fan in position.

### Claim 10

A method for assembly of an information handling system, the method comprising:
coupling a bi-stable plate to a housing in a released position;
placing a motherboard on the bi-stable plate; and
sliding a first portion of the bi-stable plate from the released position to an engaged position to couple the motherboard to the housing.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10 wherein:
coupling the first portion to the housing;
biasing the second portion to the released position with a flexible member coupled between the first and second portions with an orientation to first side of orthogonal; and
biasing the second to the engaged position with the flexible member having an orientation of a second side of orthogonal opposite the first side.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11 further comprising:
extending a member up from the first portion; and
engaging the member with a notch of the motherboard when sliding the first portion to the engaged position.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12 wherein the member and notch are aligned with an axis of the sliding.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12 wherein the member and notch are orthogonal with an axis of the sliding.

### Claim 15 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12 further comprising:
coupling the second portion to the housing in a center position of the first portion;
coupling the second portion to the first portion with plural of the flexible members extending from the center position on opposing sides of the second portion.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15 further wherein the second portion has a rectangular shape fit within a rectangular opening of the first portion.

### Claim 17

A motherboard assembly comprising:
a motherboard having a notch; and
a bi-stable plate having a first portion configured to slide relative to a second portion by at least one flexible member, the first portion having a member extending up to engage the notch when the first portion slides to an engaged position.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The motherboard assembly of claim 17 wherein the motherboard is released to lift free from the bi-stable plate when the first portion slides from the engaged position to a released position.

### Claim 19 (depends on 18)

The motherboard assembly of claim 18 wherein the member and notch are aligned with an axis of the sliding.

### Claim 20 (depends on 19)

The motherboard assembly of claim 19 wherein the member and notch are orthogonal with an axis of the sliding.
