## Abstract

A head-mounted display (HMD) system may include a body having a right side and a left side, a display device coupled to the body and positioned to display content to a user when the HMD system is donned by the user, a right side arm coupled to the right side of the body and dimensioned such that, when coupled to a first portion of a swappable strap, the right side arm and the first portion of the strap form a first fastener, and a left side arm coupled to the left side of the body and dimensioned such that, when coupled to a second portion of the strap, the left side arm and the second portion of the strap form a second fastener. The first fastener and the second fastener may detachably secure the strap to the body of the HMD system. Various other methods and systems are also disclosed.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A head-mounted display system, comprising:
a body having a right side and a left side;
a display device coupled to the body such that, when the head-mounted display system is donned by a user, the display device is positioned to display content to the user;
a right side arm coupled to the right side of the body, the right side arm being dimensioned to be detachably coupled to a first portion of a swappable head strap; and
a left side arm coupled to the left side of the body, the left side arm being dimensioned to be detachably coupled to a second portion of the swappable head strap.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The head-mounted display system of claim 1, wherein either one or both of the right side arm and the left side arm are configured to accommodate a respective electronic component.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The head-mounted display system of claim 2, wherein the respective electronic component is an audio transducer.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The head-mounted display system of claim 1, further comprising either one or both of:
a first snap piece disposed on the first portion of the swappable strap and configured to snap onto the right side arm to detachably couple the right side arm to the first portion of the swappable strap; and
a second snap piece disposed on the second portion of the swappable strap and configured to snap onto the left side arm to detachably couple the left side arm to the second portion of the swappable strap.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The head-mounted display system of claim 4, wherein:
the first snap piece includes a first lip configured to fit around an edge of the right side arm; and
the second snap piece includes a second lip configured to fit around an edge of the left side arm.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The head-mounted display system of claim 4, wherein the first and second snap pieces are made of a material that is more rigid than a material of the swappable strap.

### Claim 7 (depends on 4)

The head-mounted display system of claim 4, wherein:
the first and second snap pieces are made of a plastic, a metal, or a ceramic; and
the swappable strap is made of a woven fabric, an elastic, a knitted fabric, a fibrous fabric, or a webbing.

### Claim 8

A strap assembly for head-mounted display system, the strap assembly comprising:
a strap configured to fit around a head of a user;
a first fastening piece disposed on a first portion of the strap and configured to be detachably coupled to a right side arm of the head-mounted display system; and
a second fastening piece disposed on a second portion of the strap and configured to be detachably coupled to a left side arm of the head-mounted display system.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The strap assembly of claim 8, wherein:
the first fastening piece is configured to fit over an edge of the right side arm; and
the second fastening piece is configured to fit over an edge of the left side arm.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The strap assembly of claim 8, wherein:
the first fastening piece includes a first lip configured to fit around an edge of the right side arm; and
the second fastening piece includes a second lip configured to fit around an edge of the left side arm.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The strap assembly of claim 10, wherein:
the first lip is configured to snap onto the right side arm; and
the second lip is configured to snap onto the left side arm.

### Claim 12 (depends on 8)

The strap assembly of claim 8, wherein the first and second fastening pieces are made of a material that is more rigid than a material of the strap.

### Claim 13 (depends on 8)

The strap assembly of claim 8, wherein:
the first and second fastening pieces are made of a plastic, a metal, or a ceramic; and
the swappable strap is made of a woven fabric, an elastic, a knitted fabric, a fibrous fabric, or a webbing.

### Claim 14 (depends on 8)

The strap assembly of claim 8, wherein:
the first fastening piece is bonded to the first portion of the strap; and
