An in vitro method of treating, decreasing formation, or delaying formation of a biofilm of micro-organisms on an abiotic surface, the method comprising:
- contacting the abiotic surface with a carboxylic acid, wherein the carboxylic acid is a dicarboxylic acid or a tricarboxylic acid and has a chain length from 8 to 41 carbon atoms.
A method of treating a biofilm of microorganisms in an individual, the method comprising:
- administering to the individual a carboxylic acid, wherein the carboxylic acid is a dicarboxylic acid or a tricarboxylic acid and has a chain length of from 8 to 41 carbon atoms.
