Abstract
A method and system for generating recommendations to a user based on content in the headers and body of an electronic message and transforming the email accordingly, and also providing a redacted reply service to ensure that a user hitting “reply all” cannot inadvertently unmask the identify of bcc (blind carbon copy) recipients of the original electronic message.

A system configured to provide a redacted reply service for an email message, comprising:
- a processor remote using programming commands, the processor remote from an intended recipient of an electronic message, the processor programmed to:
- receive an electronic message to the intended recipient created by a sender,
- determine if the electronic message contains content marked by the sender for redaction,
- determine whether the sender has provided any rules related to redaction of content from messages to be transmitted to the intended recipient, and if so, control the processing of the electronic message in accordance with those rules to re-format the electronic message by removing the content to be redacted from the electronic message,
- add information related to the redacted content to the electronic message, and
- transmit the re-formatted electronic message and added information to the intended recipient.
