Abstract
Apparatuses, systems, and techniques to establish a redundant communication pathway to a management network. In at least one embodiment, the redundant communication pathway is established by creating a virtual interface using a network device, and using the virtual interface to communicate with the management network via a management port of a second network device, and a connection between a first data port of the network device and a second data port of the second network device.
Claims26
A method comprising:
- creating a virtual interface using a network device;
- and
- using the virtual interface to communicate with one or more devices via a management network, an out-of-band (“OOB”) management port of a second network device, and a connection between a first data port of the network device and a second data port of the second network device.
A system comprising:
- a first network device comprising one or more circuits connected to a first out-of-band (“OOB”) management port and a first data port, the first OOB management port being part of a first communication pathway to a management network;
- and
- a second network device comprising a second OOB management port and a second data port, the second data port to be connected by a connection to the first data port, the one or more circuits to create a virtual interface and establish a second communication pathway to the management network via the virtual interface, the connection, and the second OOB management port.
A network device comprising:
- a first communication pathway to a management network, the first communication pathway comprising a first out-of-band (“OOB”) management port;
- and
- one or more circuits to create a virtual interface and establish a second communication pathway to the management network, the second communication pathway comprising the virtual interface connected to a different network device by a data network, and a second OOB management port of the different network device.
