Codebook Subset Restriction Signaling

A method implemented by a wireless communication device for decoding signaling from a network node indicating which precoders in a set of rank-specific codebooks are restricted from being used, the method comprising:

• receiving codebook subset restriction signaling that, for each of one or more groups of precoders, jointly restricts the precoders in the group by restricting a certain beam precoder that the precoders in the group have in common;
• and
• decoding the received signaling as jointly restricting precoders in each of the one or more groups of precoders;
• and
• wherein the codebook subset restriction signaling comprises a bitmap, wherein each bit in the bitmap respectively corresponds to a certain beam precoder, wherein a value of a bit in the bitmap indicates whether the corresponding beam precoder is restricted, and wherein all precoders, across the set of rank-specific codebooks, that contain a restricted beam precoder are restricted.

A network node for signaling to a wireless communication device which precoders in a set of rank-specific codebooks are restricted from being used, the network node configured to:

• generate codebook subset restriction signaling that, for each of one or more groups of precoders, jointly restricts the precoders in the group by restricting a certain beam precoder that the precoders in the group have in common;
• send the generated signaling from the network node to the wireless communication device;
• and
• wherein the codebook subset restriction signaling comprises a bitmap, wherein each bit in the bitmap respectively corresponds to a certain beam precoder, wherein a value of a bit in the bitmap indicates whether the corresponding beam precoder is restricted, and wherein all precoders, across the set of rank-specific codebooks, that contain a restricted beam precoder are restricted.

A wireless communication device for decoding signaling from a network node indicating which precoders in a set of rank-specific codebooks are restricted from being used, the wireless communication device configured to:

• receive codebook subset restriction signaling that, for each of one or more groups of precoders, jointly restricts the precoders in the group by restricting a certain beam precoder that the precoders in the group have in common;
• decode the received signaling as jointly restricting precoders in each of the one or more groups of precoders;
• and
• wherein the codebook subset restriction signaling comprises a bitmap, wherein each bit in the bitmap respectively corresponds to a certain beam precoder, wherein a value of a bit in the bitmap indicates whether the corresponding beam precoder is restricted, and wherein all precoders, across the set of rank-specific codebooks, that contain a restricted beam precoder are restricted.
