Abstract
A system in a communications network opens a live media stream when an object on a user interface display switches from a static status to a live status and is triggered by selection from an end user. The end user is presented with real-time content and communications features activated using a network connected device connected to a publisher's site or channel. Some embodiments monitor the number of end users connected simultaneously to the channel. When a capacity is reached, the system may detect when one end user leaves the channel, opening access to the channel to a new end user.
Claims25
A network architecture, comprising:
- a host server accessible by a plurality of end users, including:
- an online portal configured to provide an advertiser user a control over an electronic advertisement, wherein:
- the electronic advertisement is displayed in an online environment,
- the electronic advertisement is dynamically controlled via the portal to be displayed between a live state and a static state,
- the portal is configured to receive a command to change the electronic advertisement from the static state to the live state,
- the portal is configured to receive a first selection, by a first end user, of the electronic advertisement when the electronic advertisement is in the live state;
- the portal is configured to receive a second selection, by a second end user, of the electronic advertisement when the electronic advertisement is in the live state;
- and
- a real-time communications (RTC) server in electronic communication with the online portal, wherein the RTC server is configured to:
- open a first online connection between a first computing device of the first end user and a host of the electronic advertisement,
- open a second online connection between a second computing device of the second end user and the host of the electronic advertisement,
- establish, through the first online connection, a real-time communication channel between the first computing device of the first end user and the host of the electronic advertisement, wherein the real-time communication channel displays a live presentation, and
- establish, through the second online connection, a simultaneous connection to the real-time communication channel, between the second computing device of the second end user and the host of the electronic advertisement, wherein the real-time communication channel displays the live presentation simultaneously to the first end user and to the second end user, in response to the first end user and the second end user selecting the electronic advertisement in the live state.
