Abstract
Techniques and solutions are provided for checking two or more object instances or files for consistency. If an inconsistency is detected, remedial action can automatically be taken to resolve the inconsistency. For example, a check type to determine a particular type of consistency can be associated with a remedial action to be implemented if a check fails. The two or more object instances or files can represent data that is stored at a source system, sent to a target system, and where a version of the data sent to the target system is then received back by the source system and used for consistency checking. In particular implementations, object instances or files can be assigned a common identifier to facilitate their comparison.
Claims20
A computing system comprising:
- at least one memory;
- one or more hardware processing units coupled to the at least one memory;
- and
- one or more computer readable storage media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed, cause the computing system to perform operations comprising:
- generating a first object instance or file having a first plurality of attributes and a respective first plurality of values for the first plurality of attributes;
- sending the first object instance or file, or a second object instance or file derived at least in part therefrom, to an external computing system, wherein the second object instance or file comprises at least a portion of the first plurality of values;
- receiving a third object instance or file from the external computing system, wherein the third object instance or file comprises at least a portion of the first plurality of attributes and a second plurality of values corresponding to the at least a portion of the first plurality of attributes;
- identifying a consistency check specified for a fourth object instance or file, wherein the fourth object instance or file is the first object instance or file, the second object instance or file, or the third object instance or file;
- based at least in part on the consistency check, identifying a fifth object instance or file to be compared with the fourth object instance or file, wherein the fifth object instance or file is the first object instance or file, the second object instance or file, or the third object instance or file and is different than the fourth object instance or file;
- and
- executing the consistency check to obtain consistency results.
A method, implemented in a computing system comprising at least one hardware processor and at least one memory coupled to the at least one hardware processor, the method comprising:
- generating a first object instance or file having a first plurality of attributes and a respective first plurality of values for the first plurality of attributes;
- sending the first object instance or file, or a second object instance or file derived at least in part therefrom, to an external computing system, wherein the second object instance or file comprises at least a portion of the first plurality of values;
- receiving a third object instance or file from the external computing system, wherein the third object instance or file comprises at least a portion of the first plurality of attributes and a second plurality of values corresponding to the at least a portion of the first plurality of attributes;
- identifying a consistency check specified for a fourth object instance or file, wherein the fourth object instance or file is the first object instance or file, the second object instance or file, or the third object instance or file;
- based at least in part on the consistency check, identifying a fifth object instance or file to be compared with the fourth object instance or file, wherein the fifth object instance or file is the first object instance or file, the second object instance or file, or the third object instance or file and is different than the fourth object instance or file;
- executing the consistency check to obtain consistency results;
- and
- logging the execution of the consistency check or storing the consistency results.
One or more computer-readable storage media comprising:
- computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a computing system comprising at least one hardware processor and at least one memory coupled to the at least one hardware processor, cause the computing system to generate a first object instance or file having a first plurality of attributes and a respective first plurality of values for the first plurality of attributes;
- computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to send the first object instance, or file or a second object instance or file derived at least in part therefrom, to an external computing system, wherein the second object instance or file comprises at least a portion of the first plurality of values;
- computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to receive a third object instance or file from the external computing system, wherein the third object instance or file comprises at least a portion of the first plurality of attributes and a second plurality of values corresponding to the at least a portion of the first plurality of attributes;
- computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to identify a consistency check specified for a fourth object instance or file, wherein the fourth object instance or file is the first object instance or file, the second object instance or file, or the third object instance or file;
- computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to, based at least in part on the consistency check, identify a fifth object instance or file to be compared with the fourth object instance or file, wherein the fifth object instance or file is the first object instance or file, the second object instance or file, or the third object instance or file and is different than the fourth object instance or file;
- computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to execute the consistency check to obtain consistency results;
- and
- computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to log the execution of the consistency check or to store the consistency results.
