Abstract
The disclosure relates to an assembly comprising an electric motor that simultaneously drives both a pump and a compressor. The assembly can be used in a motor vehicle. The pump can be suited particularly for generating hydraulic fluid flow for steering and braking, or to perform auxiliary functions such as dump bodies for garbage trucks or landscape trucks. Methods of operating the system and manufacturing the system are also provided.
Claims20
A system comprising:
- (a) a motor comprising an output shaft;
- (b) an air compressor comprising a drive shaft coupled to the output shaft of the motor so that rotation of the motor drives the air compressor;
- and
- (c) a hydraulic pump comprising a drive shaft that is coupled to the output shaft of the motor so that rotation of the motor drives the hydraulic pump.

A method comprising:
- (a) coupling an output shaft of a motor to a drive shaft of an air compressor so that rotation of the motor drives the air compressor;
- and
- (b) coupling the output shaft of the motor to a drive shaft of a hydraulic pump so that rotation of the motor drives the hydraulic pump.
