Abstract
An energy conversion system is dedicated to pressurizing a flow using a constant volume pressure source. In some embodiments, the constant volume pressure source is based on the pressure increase associated with a phase conversion in a constant volume enclosure due to heating up of the entrapped matter or exposing a mass to the gravitational field.
Claims23
An energy conversion system, comprising:
- one or more pressure sources pushing one or more pressure waves through one or more pipes;
- one or more pressure wave generators receiving the one or more pressure waves from the one or more pipes, wherein the one or more pressure wave generators are fed with low pressure flow from a pump that takes liquid from a tank;
- and
- one or more hydraulic valves connected to each of the one or more pressure wave generators,
- wherein each of the one or more pressure wave generators includes a first hydraulic valve, a second hydraulic valve, and a third hydraulic valve that are all connected to a hydraulic enclosure,
- wherein the hydraulic enclosure is connected to a hydraulic cylinder containing a piston and a spring maintained against walls of the hydraulic cylinder, and
- wherein the first hydraulic valve, the second hydraulic valve, and the third hydraulic valve are phase shifted so that they are never open simultaneously.

An energy conversion system, comprising:
- one or more pressure sources pushing one or more pressure waves through one or more pipes, the one or more pressure sources including at least one of:
- wax or sodium entrapped in cylinder, which when heated up by an electrical coil or by a warm liquid that flows through coil, the heated up wax or sodium changes phase, which increases a volume of the wax or sodium within the cylinder, causing closed volume expansion to create increased pressure, and push a piston against a liquid in a cylinder and pipes;
- wax or sodium entrapped in cylinder, which when heated up by heating a surface exposed to a direct contact or radiation heat source, the heated up wax or sodium changes phase, which increases a volume of the wax or sodium within the cylinder, causing closed volume expansion to create increased pressure, and push a piston against a liquid in a cylinder and pipes;
- and
- a cylinder containing liquid that may be pressurized at constant volume by exposing the liquid in a pipe and a cylinder to pressure from the piston via an elevated mass pushing a rod into the piston;
- one or more pressure wave generators receiving the one or more pressure waves from the one or more pipes, wherein the one or more pressure wave generators are fed with low pressure flow from a pump that takes liquid from a tank;
- and
- one or more hydraulic valves connected to each of the one or more pressure wave generators, wherein each of the one or more pressure wave generators includes a first hydraulic valve that periodically opens a connection to a constant volume pressurized liquid in the one or more pipes to the one or more pressure sources, a second hydraulic valve periodically opens a connection to a low pressure flow feeding pipe, and a third hydraulic valve that controls a connection to an output hydraulic cylinder,
- wherein the first hydraulic valve, the second hydraulic valve, and the third hydraulic valve are all connected to a hydraulic enclosure, wherein the hydraulic enclosure is connected to a hydraulic cylinder containing a piston and a spring maintained against walls of the hydraulic cylinder, and
- wherein the first hydraulic valve, the second hydraulic valve, and the third hydraulic valve are phase shifted so that they are never open simultaneously.
