## Abstract

Isolated peptides capable of reducing the amount of dexamethasone-induced spleen and/or thymus weight loss in a mouse are disclosed as well as uses thereof.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An isolated peptide being no longer than ten amino acids which comprises an amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NOs: 3, 4, 7, 18 or 20, wherein the peptide is capable of reducing the amount of dexamethasone-induced spleen and/or thymus weight loss in a mouse.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The isolated peptide of claim 1, consisting of the amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NOs: 3, 4, 7, 18 or 20.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The isolated peptide of claim 1, being 6 or 7 amino acids long.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The isolated peptide of claim 1, wherein the peptide is attached to a cell penetrating moiety.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The isolated peptide of claim 4, wherein said cell penetrating moiety is attached to an N-terminus of the peptide.

### Claim 6

A method of treating a disease associated with apoptosis in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of isolated peptide being no longer than ten amino acids which comprises an amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NOs: 3, 4, 7, 18, 20 or 21, wherein the peptide is capable of reducing the amount of dexamethasone-induced spleen and/or thymus weight loss in a mouse, thereby treating the disease associated with apoptosis.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein said disease associated with apoptosis is an inflammatory or degenerative disease.

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein said disease is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

### Claim 9 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein said disease is an autoimmune disease.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the degenerative disease is a neurodegenerative disease.

### Claim 11 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein said disease associated with apoptosis is selected from the group consisting of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinitis pigmentosa, stroke and myocardial infarction.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

A pharmaceutical composition comprising the peptide of claim 1 as an active agent and a physiologically acceptable carrier.
