Image forming system

An image forming system comprising:

• an image forming unit configured to execute image forming processing to form an image on a recording medium;
• a varnish application unit configured to execute varnish application processing to apply varnish to the recording medium on which the image is formed by the image forming unit;
• a receiving unit configured to receive an instruction for selecting a type of recording medium from at least a first type recording medium and a second type recording medium, and to receive an instruction for the varnish application processing, wherein the first type recording medium has a coat layer in a state before the image is formed, and the second type recording medium does not have a coat layer in the state before the image is formed;
• and
• a control unit configured to perform control,
• wherein, in a case where the receiving unit receives an instruction for the varnish application processing with the first type recording medium being selected, the control unit performs control on the image forming unit to form an image over the coat layer of the first type recording medium and performs control on the varnish application unit to apply a varnish over the coat layer of the first type recording medium.
