Method and apparatus for low power transmission using backscattering

A method comprising:

• receiving, by an apparatus, a second radio frequency (RF) signal reflected, in an on/off pattern over a transmission frame having a plurality of time slots, by an electronic device, the second RF signal, when on, being a time-domain function of a first RF signal, the first RF signal including a time-domain plurality of sub-signals, each sub-signal representative of an RF-upconverted baseband signal, the first RF signal defined over the transmission frame;
• and
• processing, by the apparatus, the second RF signal to obtain a parameter of the electronic device.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium on which is stored instructions for a processor in an apparatus, the instructions, when executed by the processor, causing the processor to:

• receive a second radio frequency (RF) signal reflected, in an on/off pattern over a transmission frame having a plurality of time slots, by an electronic device, the second RF signal, when on, being a time-domain function of a first RF signal, the first RF signal including a time-domain plurality of sub-signals, each sub-signal representative of an RF-upconverted baseband signal, the first RF signal defined over the transmission frame;
• and
• process the second RF signal to obtain a parameter of the electronic device.
