Abstract
A communication network wirelessly serves User Equipment (UE). In the communication network, Radio Access Technology (RAT) circuitry wirelessly indicates RAT types to the UE. The RAT circuitry receives signaling from the UE indicating UE-selected ones of the RAT types. In the communication network, network circuitry selects network-selected ones of the RAT types from the UE-selected ones of the RAT types. The network circuitry simultaneously exchanges user data with the UE over the network-selected ones of the RAT types.

A method to wirelessly serve a User Equipment (UE), the method comprising:
- wirelessly indicating Radio Access Technology (RAT) types to the UE;
- receiving signaling from the UE indicating UE-selected ones of the RAT types;
- selecting network-selected ones of the RAT types from the UE-selected ones of the RAT types;
- and
- simultaneously exchanging user data with the UE over the network-selected ones of the RAT types.
A method to operate a wireless communication network to wirelessly serve a User Equipment (UE), the method comprising:
- a wireless access node wirelessly indicating a Wireless Fidelity (WIFI) Radio Access Technology (RAT) type, an Internet-of-Things (IOT) RAT type, and a Fifth Generation New Radio (5GNR) RAT type to the UE;
- the wireless access node receiving signaling from the UE indicating UE-selected ones of the WIFI RAT type, the IoT RAT type, and the 5GNR RAT type;
- an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) selecting network-selected ones of the WIFI RAT type, the IoT RAT type, and the 5GNR RAT type from the UE-selected ones of the WIFI RAT type, the IoT RAT type, and the 5GNR RAT type;
- and
- a User Plane Function (UPF) simultaneously exchanging user data with the UE over the network-selected ones of the WIFI RAT type, the IoT RAT type, and the 5GNR RAT type.
A communication network to wirelessly serve a User Equipment (UE), the communication network comprising:
- Radio Access Technology (RAT) circuitry to wirelessly indicate RAT types to the UE;
- the RAT circuitry to receive signaling from the UE indicating UE-selected ones of the RAT types;
- network circuitry to select network-selected ones of the RAT types from the UE-selected ones of the RAT types;
- and
- the network circuitry to simultaneously exchange user data with the UE over the network-selected ones of the RAT types.
