Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for automated and secure autonomous vehicle service pick-up. For example, a method includes: receiving, from a user device associated with a user account of a user for an autonomous vehicle service, a pick-up request associated with the user account of the user; assigning, an autonomous vehicle to pick-up the user; and providing, to the autonomous vehicle assigned to pick-up the user, based on a response to a request to use biometric identification to unlock autonomous vehicles assigned to pick-up the user stored in association with the user account of the user, an indication of whether biometric identification is to be used to unlock the autonomous vehicle when picking-up the user.
