A receiver comprising:
- receiving circuitry configured to periodically power on for a first duration of time and power off for a second duration of time to save power, wherein the receiving circuitry is configured to:
- while powered on, receive a message from a transmitter, and detect emergency information carried in the message;
- and
- based on the detected emergency information, stay powered on longer than the first duration of time in order to receive additional information, wherein the additional information includes location information associated with the emergency information.
A method performed by a receiver comprising receiving circuitry, the method comprising:
- periodically powering on the receiving circuitry for a first duration of time and powering off the receiving circuitry for a second duration of time to save power;
- while the receiving circuitry is powered on, receiving a message from a transmitter, and detecting emergency information carried in the message;
- and
- based on the detected emergency information, keeping the receiving circuitry powered on longer than the first duration of time in order to receive additional information, wherein the additional information includes location information associated with the emergency information.
