Abstract
A porous body containing a liquid crystal polymer powder that has liquid crystal polymer fibers, wherein an average size of the liquid crystal polymer fibers is 2 μm or less, the porous body has an average pore size of 10 μm or less as measured by mercury intrusion porosimetry, and the porous body has a tensile strength of 25 N/mm2 or more.
Claims13
A porous body comprising:
- a liquid crystal polymer powder that contains liquid crystal polymer fibers, wherein an average size of the liquid crystal polymer fibers is 2 μm or less, the porous body has an average pore size of 10 μm or less as measured by mercury intrusion porosimetry, and
- the porous body has a tensile strength of 25 N/mm2 or more.
A method for manufacturing a porous body, the method comprising:
- dispersing a liquid crystal polymer powder that contains liquid crystal polymer fibers having an average size of 2 μm or less in a dispersion medium to obtain a paste or slurry;
- drying the paste or slurry to form a liquid crystal polymer fiber mat;
- and
- heating the liquid crystal polymer fiber mat to obtain a porous body having an average pore size of 10 μm or less as measured by mercury intrusion porosimetry and a tensile strength of 25 N/mm2 or more, wherein
- a heating temperature of the heating is in a range in which the heating temperature is lower than a melting point of the liquid crystal polymer powder by 60° C. to 5° C.

A method for manufacturing a porous body, the method comprising:
- dispersing a liquid crystal polymer powder that contains liquid crystal polymer fibers having an average size of 2 μm or less and a binder resin in a dispersion medium to obtain a resin mixture;
- drying the resin mixture to form a resin mixture mat;
- hot pressing the resin mixture mat to obtain a resin mixture film;
- and
- removing at least a portion of the binder resin contained in the resin mixture film by heating to obtain a porous body having an average pore size of 10 μm or less as measured by mercury intrusion porosimetry and a tensile strength of 25 N/mm2 or more, wherein
- a heating temperature of the heating is in a range in which the heating temperature is lower than a melting point of the liquid crystal polymer powder by 60° C. to 5° C.
