Abstract
An adjustable barbell including a handle assembly having a bar, a weight selector assembly comprising a rod movably coupled to the bar, and a gear assembly configured to cause axial movement of the rod relative to the bar. A lock mechanism is included that has a first configuration disengaged from the gear assembly wherein the weight selector assembly is operable to move the rod to selectively couple one or more of a plurality of removable weights to the handle assembly, and a second configuration in engagement with the gear assembly preventing the rotation of the weight selector assembly.
Claims27
An adjustable barbell comprising:
- a handle assembly comprising:
- a bar;
- a weight selector assembly comprising a rod movably coupled to the bar, and a gear assembly configured to cause axial movement of the rod relative to the bar;
- and
- a lock mechanism having:
- a first configuration disengaged from the gear assembly wherein the weight selector assembly is operable to move the rod to selectively couple one or more of a plurality of removable weights to the handle assembly, and
- a second configuration in engagement with the gear assembly preventing the rotation of the weight selector assembly.

An adjustable barbell comprising:
- a bar;
- a weight selector assembly comprising a rod movably coupled to the bar, and at least one gear configured to cause axial movement of the rod relative to the bar;
- and
- a lock mechanism pivotable between a first configuration and a second configuration, wherein:
- the first configuration disengages the lock mechanism from the at least one gear to allow a rotation of the weight selector assembly to move the rod to selectively couple one or more of a plurality of removable weights to the adjustable barbell, and
- the second configuration engages the lock mechanism with the at least one gear to prevent the rotation of the weight selector assembly.
A system comprising:
- an adjustable barbell comprising:
- a bar;
- a weight selector assembly comprising a rod movably coupled to the bar, and a gear assembly configured to cause axial movement of the rod relative to the bar;
- and
- a lock mechanism pivotable between a first configuration and a second configuration, wherein:
- the first configuration disengages the lock mechanism from the gear assembly to allow a rotation of the weight selector assembly to move the rod to selectively couple one or more of a plurality of removable weights to the adjustable barbell, and
- the second configuration engages the lock mechanism with the gear assembly to prevent the rotation of the weight selector assembly;
- and
- a base configured to support the adjustable barbell, the base configured to engage the lock mechanism to pivot the lock mechanism from the second configuration to the first configuration.
