Abstract
Methods for inhibiting the growth of a microbe on a cut flower using compositions comprising a carboxylic acid of Formula (I) or salt thereof: wherein R is H, Ph, Ar, or a C1-C60 alkyl.

A method of inhibiting growth of a microbe on a cut flower comprising contacting at least a portion of the cut flower with an effective amount of a composition comprising a carboxylic acid of formula (I) or salt thereof:
- wherein R is H, Ph, Ar, or a C1-C60 alkyl.
A method of inhibiting growth of a microbe on a cut rose comprising contacting at least a portion of the cut rose with an effective amount of a composition comprising:
- calcium propionate and water, wherein the composition comprises calcium propionate in a concentration of from 0.01% to 0.50% (w/v).
