Abstract
Example techniques involve a calibration state variable. An example implementation receives, via a network interface, an indication that the first playback device is calibrated. Based on receiving the indication that the first playback device is calibrated, the example implementation updates a calibration state variable to indicate that the first playback device is calibrated, wherein the calibration state variable is stored in the data storage. The example implementation sends, via the network interface, an indication of the updated calibration state variable to a second device.
Claims20
A first playback device comprising:
- at least one audio transducer;
- a network interface;
- at least one processor;
- and
- at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising program instructions that are executable by the at least one processor such that the first playback device is configured to:
- form a first bonded configuration that includes the first playback device and a second playback device, wherein in the first bonded configuration, the first playback device and the second playback device are configured to output surround sound audio within an environment;
- during an acoustic calibration of the first bonded configuration, play back calibration audio via the at least one audio transducer, wherein the played back calibration audio is captured via at least one microphone of a mobile device during the acoustic calibration, and wherein the first playback device is located at a first position within the environment and the second playback device is located at a second position within the environment during the acoustic calibration;
- apply a calibration profile that acoustically calibrates the first playback device as part of the first bonded configuration, wherein the calibration profile is based on the calibration audio captured during the acoustic calibration, and wherein the calibration profile calibrates the first playback device to the first position and the second playback device to the second position;
- cause an update to a state of a calibration state variable to indicate that the first bonded configuration is calibrated;
- switch from the first bonded configuration to a second bonded configuration that includes the first playback device and two or more third playback devices;
- and
- after formation of the second bonded configuration, cause an update to the state of the calibration state variable to indicate that the second bonded configuration is uncalibrated.
At least one non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising program instructions that are executable by at least one processor such that a system is configured to:
- form a first bonded configuration that includes a first playback device and a second playback device, wherein in the first bonded configuration, the first playback device and the second playback device are configured to output surround sound audio within an environment;
- during an acoustic calibration of the first bonded configuration, cause the first playback device to play back first calibration audio via at least one first audio transducer and the second playback device to play back second calibration audio via at least one second audio transducer, wherein the first playback device is located at a first position within the environment and the second playback device is located at a second position within the environment during the acoustic calibration;
- capture the first calibration audio and the second calibration audio via at least one microphone of a mobile device during the acoustic calibration;
- determine a calibration profile based on the captured first and second calibration audio, wherein the calibration profile acoustically calibrates the first playback device to the first position and the second playback device to the second position as part of the first bonded configuration;
- cause the first playback device and the second playback device to apply the determined calibration profile;
- cause an update to a state of a calibration state variable to indicate that the first bonded configuration is calibrated;
- switch from the first bonded configuration to a second bonded configuration that includes the first playback device and two or more third playback devices;
- and
- after formation of the second bonded configuration, cause an update to the state of the calibration state variable to indicate that the second bonded configuration is uncalibrated.
A method comprising:
- forming a first bonded configuration that includes a first playback device and a second playback device, wherein in the first bonded configuration, the first playback device and the second playback device are configured to output surround sound audio within an environment;
- during an acoustic calibration of the first bonded configuration, causing the first playback device to play back first calibration audio via at least one first audio transducer and the second playback device to play back second calibration audio via at least one second audio transducer, wherein the first playback device is located at a first position within the environment and the second playback device is located at a second position within the environment during the acoustic calibration;
- capturing the first calibration audio and the second calibration audio via at least one microphone of a mobile device during the acoustic calibration;
- determining a calibration profile based on the captured first and second calibration audio, wherein the calibration profile acoustically calibrates the first playback device to the first position and the second playback device to the second position as part of the first bonded configuration;
- causing the first playback device and the second playback device to apply the determined calibration profile;
- causing an update to a state of a calibration state variable to indicate that the first bonded configuration is calibrated;
- switching from the first bonded configuration to a second bonded configuration that includes the first playback device and two or more third playback devices;
- and
- after forming the second bonded configuration, causing an update to the state of the calibration state variable to indicate that the second bonded configuration is uncalibrated.
