Systems and methods for passenger pick-up by an autonomous vehicle

A system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• at least one computer-readable storage medium having stored therein instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
• determine map information associated with at least one thoroughfare for routing an autonomous vehicle, wherein the map information is based on location data associated with a client device requesting the autonomous vehicle;
• receive sensor data from the client device corresponding to the at least one thoroughfare;
• determine, based on the sensor data and the map information, a first position of the client device relative to the at least one thoroughfare;
• and
• route the autonomous vehicle based on the first position of the client device relative to the at least one thoroughfare.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising at least one instruction for causing a computer or processor to:

• determine map information associated with at least one thoroughfare for routing an autonomous vehicle, wherein the map information is based on location data associated with a client device requesting the autonomous vehicle;
• receive sensor data from the client device corresponding to the at least one thoroughfare;
• determine, based on the sensor data and the map information, a first position of the client device relative to the at least one thoroughfare;
• and
• route the autonomous vehicle based on the first position of the client device relative to the at least one thoroughfare.
