Abstract
Ex vivo monolayer models of human interstinal epithelia that express sensors, and methods of use thereof for evaluation of the effects of test compounds on the human gut.
Claims7
-14. (canceled)
A method of evaluating an effect of a test compound on mammalian intestinal inflammation, the method comprising:
- providing the ex vivo model system of claim 1;
- determining a baseline level of expression of detectable output protein from the biosensors in the ex vivo model system;
- contacting the ex vivo model system with the test compound;
- and
- detecting a second level of expression of detectable output protein from the biosensors in the presence of and/or after removal of, the test compound;
- wherein a change in the level of expression indicates that the test compound affects inflammation in the mammalian gut.
