Detecting tire or wheel theft activity

A method, comprising:

• detecting, by a trailer computing device that is attached to a trailer apparatus, an occurrence of an event, the event comprising at least one of a change in height to a portion of the trailer apparatus from an accelerometer of the trailer computing device or a pressure loss event;
• identifying, by the accelerometer of the trailer computing device, a vibration measurement from the accelerometer;
• and
• transmitting, by the trailer computing device, an indication of a theft event to a remote computing device.

A system, comprising:

• at least one computing device that comprises a processor and memory;
• machine-readable instructions stored in the memory that, when executed by the processor, cause the at least one computing device to at least:
• receive a prospective theft event from a trailer computing device, wherein the trailer computing device is attached to a trailer;
• compare the prospective theft event to a trailer event history;
• generate a heat map based at least in part on the comparison of the prospective theft event and the trailer event history;
• and
• display the heat map on a client device, the heat map includes a representation of a geographic area, the heat map is configured to display a first interface layer of a first level of theft activity and a second interface layer of a second level of theft activity over the geographic area, each of the first interface layer and the second interface layer are configured to be displayed or omitted in response to a user selection.
