Abstract
A refuse vehicle can include a controller in communication with a hydraulic system of the refuse vehicle. The controller can control the hydraulic system to supply fluid power to a packer actuator of the refuse vehicle such that the packer actuator moves a packer of the refuse vehicle, determine that one or more other vehicle functions are active, and reduce the fluid power supplied to the packer actuator, while maintaining an amount of fluid power supplied to one or more components of the refuse vehicle, to adjust a load applied to the hydraulic system. The fluid power supplied to the packer actuator can be reduced by an amount without impacting a performance of the one or more components.
Claims20
A refuse vehicle comprising:
- a body defining a storage compartment;
- a packer coupled to the body;
- a hydraulic system configured to:
- supply fluid power to a packer actuator of the refuse vehicle, the packer actuator configured to move the packer in a compacting direction to compact refuse within the storage compartment;
- and
- supply second fluid power to one or more components of the refuse vehicle, the one or more components of the refuse vehicle configured to perform one or more other vehicle functions;
- and
- a controller in communication with the hydraulic system, the controller configured to:
- control the hydraulic system to supply the fluid power to the packer actuator such that the packer actuator moves the packer, at a first rate, in the compacting direction;
- determine that the one or more other vehicle functions are active;
- and
- reduce, with the packer in a partially extended position, the fluid power supplied to the packer actuator, while maintaining an amount of fluid power supplied to the one or more components, to adjust a load applied to the hydraulic system, wherein the fluid power supplied to the packer actuator is reduced by an amount such that the packer actuator moves the packer, at a second rate, in the compacting direction without impacting a performance of the one or more components.
A refuse packing system, comprising:
- a packer coupled to a body, wherein the body defines a storage compartment;
- a hydraulic system configured to:
- supply fluid power to a packer actuator;
- and
- supply second fluid power to one or more components of a refuse vehicle, the one or more components of the refuse vehicle configured to perform one or more other vehicle functions;
- and
- a controller in communication with the hydraulic system, the controller configured to:
- control the hydraulic system to supply the fluid power to the packer actuator such that the packer actuator moves the packer, at a first rate, in a first direction;
- determine that the one or more other vehicle functions are active;
- and
- reduce, with the packer in a partially extended position, the fluid power supplied to the packer actuator, while maintaining an amount of fluid power supplied to the one or more components, to adjust a load applied to the hydraulic system, wherein the fluid power supplied to the packer actuator is reduced by an amount such that the packer actuator moves the packer, at a second rate, in the first direction without impacting a performance of the one or more components.
A refuse vehicle comprising:
- a body defining a storage compartment;
- a packer coupled to the body;
- a hydraulic system configured to:
- supply fluid power to a packer actuator of the refuse vehicle, the packer actuator configured to move the packer to compact refuse within the storage compartment;
- and
- supply second fluid power to one or more components of the refuse vehicle, the one or more components of the refuse vehicle configured to perform one or more other vehicle functions;
- and
- a controller in communication with the hydraulic system, the controller configured to:
- control the hydraulic system to supply the fluid power to the packer actuator;
- determine that the one or more other vehicle functions are active;
- and
- reduce the fluid power supplied to the packer actuator such that the packer actuator moves the packer at a reduced rate without impacting a performance of the one or more components.
