Abstract
In aspects, the invention provides novel compositions and methods for dominant inhibition of viral infection.
Claims20
A composition for suppressing a viral infection, the composition comprising a nucleic acid molecule encoding a fusion protein, wherein the fusion protein comprises a protein capable of self-assembling/oligomerizing with a protein of a viral particle operatively linked to a molecule capable of inhibiting a function of the viral particle.
A method of treating a subject known to have, suspected of having, or at risk of having a viral infection, the method comprising administering to the subject a composition comprising:
- (i) a nucleic acid molecule encoding a fusion protein, wherein the fusion protein comprises a protein capable of self-assembling/oligomerizing with a protein of a viral particle operatively linked to a molecule capable of inhibiting a function of the viral particle, and
- (ii) a delivery molecule,
- in an amount effective to treat the viral infection.
A method of treating a subject known to have, suspected of having, or at risk of having a viral infection, the method comprising administering to the subject a composition in an amount effective to treat the viral infection, wherein the composition comprises an exogenous nucleic acid molecule encoding a fusion protein comprising a protein capable of self-assembling/oligomerizing with a protein of a viral particle, wherein the protein is operatively linked to a molecule capable of inhibiting a function of the viral particle, and wherein a means of administering the composition comprises a physical delivery means.
